Synopsis
Juan Francisco is a twelve-year-old lad living in a village in southern Spain, surrounded by thousand-year-old oak trees and solar panels. On his days out hunting with greyhounds, he discovers the close relationship between humans and animals. Santi and Antonio’s youthful energy and modern mindset coexist with the oldest of traditions. Pepa is a young mother who works as a seasonal worker in the slaughterhouse. Alberto Martín Menacho’s hybrid debut feature is a group portrait of these young people reveals a land of hares and donkeys, love stories, fires and rave parties.
Biography and Films
Alberto Martín Menacho (Madrid, 1986) graduated in visual arts from the Haute école d’art et de design in Geneva. In 2015 he directed his first short film, Pata negra. In 2018 Mi amado, las montañas was presented at the Rotterdam Film Festival and won Best Short Film at the Las Palmas IFF. He has been an artist-in-residence at Tabakalera and Casa de Velázquez, Madrid. His work has been exhibited in art galleries, museums and film festivals worldwide, including the Photo Elysée Museum in Lausanne, the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris, FIDMarseille, Entrevues Belfort and Visions du Réel. Antier noche is his debut feature.
