Synopsis
Verony, a young reggaeton dancer, is accompanying her partner, portrait photographer Marte, through a gender transition process. They decide to go on a road trip together to Talara, where they spend New Year's Eve with Marte's family. In the north, Spondylus shells are being expelled from the seas, sparking a connection with beings from the great beyond. Both Verony and Marte fear they may be at a crossroads, on their journey and in life.
Biography and Films
Andrea Hoyos directs, writes and lectures on teaches films. They did a master's degree in creative production at Catalyst, Berlin. Their work explores narratives on what it means to inhabit certain bodies, linked to illness and shaped by systems of sex and gender. Their debut feature, Autoerótica (2021), was selected in 2023 for Berlinale Talents, Flaherty Fellowship and Locarno Open Doors Screenings.
