Synopsis
San Pedro de Mérida would be a forgotten town in Extremadura if it weren't for its 24-hour service station, where its 850 inhabitants coexist with truck drivers and passengers who, like Ana, stop here on their journey between Lisbon and Madrid. Fascinated by this place, which distracts her from her own inner turmoil, Ana decides to stay in a guesthouse. But what was supposed to be a brief stop ends up lasting the entire summer.
Biography and Films
Amaya Sumpsi (Madrid, 1979) studied film directing between San Francisco (USF) and Madrid (TAI). In 2012 she completed a master's degree in visual anthropology (UNL, Lisbon) with the feature-length documentary Meu pescador, meu velho. She codirected Um Ramadão em Lisboa (2019) and her solo film Entre Ilhas premiered in 2022 and was nominated for a SOPHIA award. In 2023 she will complete her PhD in visual anthropology.
