Thank you for sharing the 20th edition of l'Alternativa with us! Thanks also to all the organisations that make l'Alternativa possible and for all the generous comments many of you have passed on to us.
This year 28 films competed in l'Alternativa Official: feature films and short films that gave a voice to up-and-coming directors and showcased contemporary filmmaking from across the globe which finds few commercial outlets.
Our juries awarded prizes and special mentions to 8 films and our audience voted for their favourite short film. We also awarded the first Panorama Rencontres Cinématographiques de Cerbère–Portbou Prize and the second L'Alternativa Hall Lomography Prize. In addition, the Guionistes Associats de Catalunya awarded prizes for best feature film screenplay and best short film screenplay.
L'Alternativa Parallel comprised three sections: 20 Years of l'Alternativa looked back at some of the key films screened at the Festival over the last two decades; Panorama gave a taste of contemporary Spanish filmmaking; and the two family sessions opened young eyes to the wonder of filmmaking.
As ever, l'Alternativa Hall screened a rich and varied programme of films in a unique setting.
From 25 November to 8 December 2013 some of the films from l'Alternativa Official (Museum Hours, Fóra, Miraggio all'Italiana), 20 Years of l'Alternativa (Finisterrae, Mercado de Futuros, Police, Adjective, L'Argent, Alice in den Städten) and Panorama (Dime quién era Sanchicorrota, El invierno de Pablo, El pas del riu, La jungla interior, La tierra quieta, Otra noche en la Tierra, El vacío) will be available on Filmin
It was great to celebrate 20 years of l'Alternativa with professionals from all over the world and the many festivalgoers who came to the screenings, activities and other events at the Festival. We're already working hard to make sure next year is just as thrilling!
