Storyteller. Patricio Guzmán

We have programmed three films by this fascinating, highly personal filmmaker to accompany the Storytellers roundtable.

First, the Barcelona premiere of his latest, deeply poetic film, Nostalgia for the Light, set in the Atacama desert in Chile (3000 m above sea level), where astronauts from all over the world gather to watch the stars. Above, the clear skies reveal the secrets of the universe; below, the dry earth preserves intact human remains: mommies, explorers, adventurers, natives, miners and skeletons of political prisoners from the dictatorship.

We are also screening two documentaries for the first time: Mon Jules Verne, a tribute to a storyteller whose tales have whetted readers' appetite for knowledge and set them off along their professional path, and Madrid, a city he returned to, camera in hand. In his own words: “Madrid and I have had passion, euphoria, falling out, forgetting and reconciliation that's led to a fond friendship”.

In collaboration with Casa Amčrica Catalunya.
