Synopsis
Italy jails thousands of migrants accused of crewing flimsy, unseaworthy vessels across the Mediterranean. This documentary series reenacts one trial in Sicily, where eight young Libyan men were sentenced to spend most of their lives in prison as people traffickers and murderers. A public reading of Palermo court papers reveals the shocking reality behind Italy’s war on migrant smuggling.
