“I want to make a film that explores the concept of work, by comparing work in a traditional society in Africa, an industrialising society in India, and a highly industrialised society in Europe or Japan. The object of comparison is work to build houses. Houses to live in.” Farocki shows us various brick production sites in all their colours, movements and sounds, and considers how bricks are the resonating fundamentals of society.
