An intimate road movie shot on Super 8, and a collage of impressions, memories and longing explored by a geologist who is sent on a fieldtrip to the Sertão in northeast Brazil to assess possible routes for a water canal. For many inhabitants, the canal offers the chance of a future, but for those living on its direct path, it means only requisitions, departure and loss. The fieldtrip progresses and we sense that the geologist shares the emptiness and sense of abandonment and isolation with the places he visits.
