Synopsis

At a traditional naming ceremony, family members pray and swoon over the birth of an alleged baby girl, kicking off the demise of an entity resistant to the identity imposed upon them.

Biography and Films

Yace Sula is a screenwriter, director and visual artist who often plays within the experimental arena. Through a surrealist lens, their work aims to capture how shame informs the fluid nature of identity, trauma and morality. Their 2022 short film Ele of the Dark has been screened at Slamdance, Fantasia and other esteemed festivals globally. It was also awarded an honorable mention for US Narrative Short Film at Outfest LA.
