
Beyond the Festival, Far and Wide, All Year Round
We work with cinemas, universities, festivals, central centres, museums and film clubs in Catalonia, Spain and further afield to give films screened at l’Alternativa a new lease of life and the chance to see the world. We have presented films from the festival in Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Spain, the United States and Uruguay, among others.
FILMOXARXA
Since 2018 we have been part of the FilmoXarxa initiative, thanks to our partnership with the Federació Catalana de Cineclubs. Each year, the winner of the Don Quixote International Feature Film Prize in l'Alternativa Official, awarded by the International Federation of Film Societies, is added to the catalogue of films included in the programme.

La realidad desbordante. Cine independiente español (2015-2020) September 2022 – March 2023
A programme of ten films touring the Kommunale Kinos network of German cinemas in cities such as Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Bremen, organised within the framework of the 2022 Frankfurt Book Fair. An initiative by AcciĂłn Cultural Española and the Instituto Cervantes programmed by Ana DomĂnguez, RocĂo Cabrera, Javier Miranda and Garbiñe Ortega, as well as Tess Renaudo on behalf of l’Alternativa. Five films in the programme had been were screened at l’Alternativa: El año del descubrimiento (Luis LĂłpez Carrasco, 2020), Oscuro y Lucientes (Samuel AlarcĂłn, 2018), Zumiriki (Oskar Alegria, 2019), Video Blues (Emma Tusell, 2019) and Las letras de Jordi (Maider Fernández Iriarte, 2019).

L’Alternativa was invited to curate a programme for Les Rencontres cinématographiques internationales de Cerbère-Collioure. We presented Telenovela en gris y multicolor (Filip Martinovic, 2021) and Esquirlas (Natalia Garayalde, 2021), accompanied by both filmmakers, who took part in Q&A sessions after the screenings.
