Synopsis
When imagination and understanding can freely harmonise, on purpose or by accident, an idea may form. This short film combines found footage, sounds and words retrieved from archives to playfully explore the relatedness between these seemingly random finds.
Biography and Films
Joysi Olijhoek (1999, Netherlands) is a young filmmaker who graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy in 2023. Her journey into filmmaking is driven by a deep-rooted fascination with the past, collecting and combining. She feels at home behind the editing desk table but also has a great love for observing everyday life. In her first short film, Where Do Ideas Come From?, she merges her love for archives and her fascination with the ordinary into a playful exploration of the origin of ideas.
