Participatory Bodies

Places for meeting, interacting, relating and sharing are at the heart of our culture as sociable beings. In celebration of the wide variety of forms such places can take, l’Alternativa Hall is always keen to create participatory spaces by calling for film submissions from the general public and by teaming up with likeminded partners to exchange visions, sensations and experiences.

Within this in mind, this year’s Call for Short Shorts is an invitation to reflect on the relationship between worlds of seeing and hearing by exploring the performativity of bodies. Open Screening offers budding filmmakers the chance to see their work up on the big screen in front of the Hall crowd.

Hall Selects is a bridge between l’Alternativa Official and l’Alternativa Hall that sees a selection of submissions to the official sections screened on the Hall screen. With an eye on up-and-coming filmmakers, this year we are once again partnering with the u22 Young Filmmakers Festival in Barcelona to put together a session of films by directors aged 22 or under.

Finally, we are running a camera-less film workshop in conjunction with one of our longest-standing allies, Xcèntric.
