Children's Workshop with Marina Sáez

Workshops

Onsite

This workshop gives participants the chance to create a group film that emulates the direct-animation technique popularised in the mid-1950s by artists like Norman McLaren, Len Lye and Stan Brakhage. It gets its name from the process of drawing, scratching and printing directly onto film instead of photographing and developing it.

We will work on cash register rolls using solid tempera paint and plenty of imagination, before bringing the photos we take to life using the Stop Motion Studio app. Come and join us!

Marina Sáez (Barcelona, 1988) creates children’s books these days, but also finds time to design advertising campaigns and gets her hands dirty with the mobile workshop La Taca and occasionally dives into animation projects. In her spare time, she works on creative community projects with The Pink Pixel Collective. Some of her books have even won awards, including El museu perdut, La finestra indiscreta and Aiguagim. She has had the fortune of being able to exhibit her drawings in far-flung places like Athens, Berlin and Chicago.
