Synopsis

Autodefensa is about two friends doing whatever they like without ever asking anyone for permission. It is about living life in your twenties in Barcelona to the full and crossing every emotional red line to discover who you really are. It is about the adventures of two sassy young women who aren’t letting anyone tell them what to do and who have created their own world where they are queen. And yet Autodefensa is also about two panicked girls having fun as a means of survival. They say they’re very sorry, it was all in self-defence, they were just really scared.

Bio/Filmo

Miguel Ángel Blanca (Sabadell, 1982) graduated from ESCAC in screenwriting. In 2009 he began work on the transmedia found-footage project Your Lost Memories, which led to a feature film of the same name codirected with Alejandro Marzoa and screened at l'Alternativa 2013. He was back at the festival the following year with Després de la generació feliç (2014) which interwove found footage with music as its leitmotif. He then made Un lloc on caure mort (2014) and La extranjera (2015), in which he explored the idea of tourist invasions, only this case in Barcelona. His 2017 feature Quiero lo eterno delved into teenage nihilism. Magaluf Ghost Town (2021) opened l'Alternativa 2021.
