Synopsis
Under the pretext of revisiting the locations of the narcocomedy El infierno, Flora offers a range of reflections on the nature of acting, the scope of fiction and the representation of reality and violence in Mexico.
Bio/Filmo
Nicolás Pereda (Mexico City, 1982) is a filmmaker who explores the intricate details of everyday life by weaving fractured, elliptical narratives through fiction and documentary. He often works with Lagartijas tiradas al sol theatre group and actor Teresita Sánchez. Since 2020 he has taught filmmaking classes at UC Berkeley. His films have been screened at festivals in cities across the world, including Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Locarno and Toronto. L'Alternativa has screened a good number of his shorts and features in its official sections over the years, including ¿Dónde están sus historias? (2007), Entrevista con la tierra (2008), Perpetuum Mobile (2009), Verano de Goliat, Los mejores temas (2012), Mi piel luminosa (2019), Fauna (2020) and Querida Chantal (2021).
