Guacimara

Cinema Pendent Projects

Synopsis

Guacimara has just turned sixteen and can finally enter the contest for Carnival Queen, her childhood dream. She is only too well aware that, unlike her friend Lucía, she doesn’t have a body out of a fashion magazine, and she knows she will be teased mercilessly by her classmates. But that doesn't matter: she has been waiting for years and now she is ready. What she is not prepared for is to become an overnight social phenomenon. Guacimara is suddenly favourite to win, admired by all the girls on the island. However, her new-found popularity changes everything, including her relationship with Lucía, with her mother, with the boy she likes and, above all, with her own body.
