Rock & Roll for Jellyfish, with Rafa Castañer
A collaborative intergenerational workshop to create an engaging, educational film combining biology, animation and music. The finished work will be screened live at the end of the workshop.
A workshop and film celebrating life and cinema.
The workshop
This introduction to experimental animation will make use of a range of creative games and strategies to help participants get to grips with this art form, while equipping them with the key tools to make their own film.
Biology and animation come together to take participants on an instructive journey as they learn about cells and living organisms through a series of engaging games and activities.
The film
All the material created in the workshop will be photographed to become the raw material for the film, of which all the participants are now cocreators.
Movement is the natural expression of life and filmmaking, and this activity will not only teach participants the basic principles of experimental animation but also, in parallel, give them a sound understanding of cells as the building blocks of biology.
Musician and animator Sergi Padró will join us to help screen the finished footage and perform a possible soundtrack.

Drawing is understanding with your hands. Experimental narratives run though all my work: I am always driven by the urge to describe, explain and tell stories through a range of different voices, formats and media.
