International Feature Film Prize

Iván Guarnizo
Iván Guarnizo

Iván Guarnizo is a film director and editor. His debut feature, Del otro lado, has won international acclaim and fourteen awards to date, making it one of the most successful Colombian nonfiction films of all time. He has also edited a number of award-winning films, including No todo es vigilia and Paciente. At the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, Variety magazine named him as one of the Top Ten Talents to Track.

Margot Mecca
Margot Mecca

Margot Mecca is an Italian programmer, producer and researcher based in Barcelona. Since 2011 she has worked at the Festival dei Popoli, the oldest documentary festival in Europe, where she now sits on the selection committee and curates the Doc at Work Future Campus, aimed at emerging talent in documentary filmmaking. She also sits on the selection committee at Festival MajorDocs in Mallorca. Since 2019 she has been a postdoc at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

Paco Poch
Paco Poch

Paco Poch holds a PhD in Audiovisual Communication from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He produces work for film and television through Mallerich Films and brings original films from different countries to a wider audience through his distribution company Paco Poch Cinema. He is director of the Master’s Degree in Film Production and Distribution at the Escola de Producció Audiovisual de Catalunya (EPAC). He also works as a consultant for film projects. He recently coproduced Sis nits d’agost and distributed the Turkish film Commitment Hasan in Spain.

Anna Giralt Gris
Anna Giralt Gris

Anna Giralt Gris is a filmmaker, producer, new media creator and researcher. She cofounded Estocástica, a production company specialising in film and technology, and Gusano Films. Her debut feature, Robin Bank, has been selected for CPH:DOX, Ambulante and HOF, among others, and won the Audience Award at DocsBarcelona and Best Documentary at FIC-CAT. She also works as a new media consultant and teaches digital narrative at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Her interactive new-media project Chronicle of a Vanished City premiered at the SXSW VR Cinema. In 2018 she was selected for the IDFA DocLab Academy and, in 2019, for the Talent Campus at the Berlinale. She was a panellist for the Visual Writing activity at l’Alternativa 2020.

Angelica Tognetti
Angelica Tognetti

Angelica Tognetti is a curator, researcher and teacher who studied literature at the Universitat de Barcelona and took the Independent Studies Programme at the MACBA. She is a member of the pli-é collective and currently runs the Sala d’Art Jove de la Generalitat de Catalunya. She also oversees temporary exhibitions at the MACBA and is codirector of the international art residency project Fora de Camp. She has worked closely with institutions such as La Escocesa, Fabra i Coats and Can Serrat, as well as numerous art galleries and publications. She is currently working on the project Curadurías tentaculares. Entramados y colaboraciones para una cura colectiva.

Antoni Pinent
Antoni Pinent

Antoni Pinent is a visual artist, independent contemporary art curator, film curator and filmmaker whose work has been screened at festivals, cinemas and museums worldwide, including SFMOMA (2012). Part of his 35 mm, 16 mm and digital work is available at Light Cone (Paris), Canyon Cinema (San Francisco), CFMDC (Toronto) and HAMACA (Barcelona). In 2008 he received an award from the Museum of Contemporary Cinema Foundation (New York, Paris). He gave a masterclass on his project iSBiC at l’Alternativa 2020.

Ana Aitana Fernández
Ana Aitana Fernández

Ana Aitana Fernández lectures in documentary making for the BA in Audiovisual Communication at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya and for the MA in Film and Cultural Studies at ESCAC film school. She is a member of the CINEMA group at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. She edited the specialist website Transit and has written a number of papers for academic journals, as well as contributing to multi-author books published by Galaxia Gutenberg and Routledge. She combines her research and teaching work with filmmaking projects such as the documentary Pasaia Bitartean (Irati Gorostidi, 2016).

Marla Jacarilla
Marla Jacarilla

Marla Jacarilla is a visual artist, writer and film critic. She coedited Contrapicado magazine and was vice-president of ACCEC between 2018 and 2020. She has contributed to publications such as Cortosfera, Miradas de Cine, Culturaca, Caimán Cuadernos de Cine, Sala 1, Sofilm, A*Desk and El Rayo Verde. Apuntes cinematográficos, among others. In 2012 she published her debut novel, Mecánica de la desidia.

Toni Junyent Rosa
Toni Junyent Rosa

Toni Junyent Rosa writes about film for outlets such as Cinemanía, El Salto and Transit. Since 2011 he has formed part of the editorial team producing the Festival de Sitges newsletter. He cowrote the screenplay for Amor tóxico (Norberto Ramos del Val, 2015) and recently published the poetry anthology La Quimera del Tahini y otros poemas. He holds recitals in ice cream parlours, has edited the odd fanzine here and there and has appeared in more than one underground film.

Mariona Guiu
Mariona Guiu

Mariona Guiu is a Barcelona-based filmmaker who has had a long career imagining, searching out, writing and editing stories and nonfiction content for the small and big screen. She now divides her time between the roles of independent director and creative consultant for the University of Melbourne. She made her debut feature, Singled [Out], in 2017 and is currently working on L’hora de les tortugues, set to premiere in 2024.

Macià Florit Campins
Macià Florit Campins

Macià Florit Campins is a Mallorca-born, Barcelona-based filmmaker who teamed up with director Xavier Puig to set up the production company Elsabeth Produccions, through which they have directed and produced a range of documentaries, cultural campaigns, music videos and new formats for television. After directing four documentary shorts, in 2021 he made his debut feature, Pedra pàtria.

Ruth Somalo
Ruth Somalo

Ruth Somalo is a New York–based Spanish filmmaker, researcher, film curator and senior programmer at DOC NYC and The Architecture and Design Film Festival. Her shorts and features have been screened in cinemas and festivals worldwide. She also works as a creative consultant and mentor and seminar instructor at the UnionDocs Center for Documentary Art summer labs in Brooklyn and is president of the Flaherty International Film Seminar Board of Trustees.

Tiziana Spadaro
Tiziana Spadaro

Tiziana Spadaro graduated in the history of Italian cinema from the University of Bologna. As an event organiser and culture operator, she has designed and delivered numerous filmmaking projects that explore issues such as social ills, poetry, animation, experimental filmmaking, machinima and food. She is director of the Versi di Luce International Film and Poetry Festival and the current vice-president of the Federazione Italiana dei Circoli del Cinema.

Martha Otte
Martha Otte

Martha Otte emigrated from California to Norway in 1974. She started working for the Tromsø International Film Festival in 1998 and became its director in 2004. Since stepping down in March 2020, she has continued to be professionally active in various roles, among others as lead film consultant at the regional level for Norway’s Cultural Backpack programme, which aims to bring art and culture to all schoolchildren. She has sat on FICC juries in Berlin, Cottbus, Karlovy Vary and Locarno, among others.

Francisco Javier Fernández
Francisco Javier Fernández

Francisco Javier Fernández graduated in humanities and social studies from the University of Castilla-La Mancha and holds a Master’s Degree in Contemporary Film and Audiovisual Studies from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He is a member of the Cineclub Cinema del Diable in Martorell and a regular contributor to the blog Una tumba para el ojo and the YouTube channel Uncut Entrevistas.
