Synopsis

Olores is a film about the childhood sounds and images of someone who feels more at home with sharp knives and blood-stained cloths than the pure innocence usually associated with the early years of life. But it’s not all about blood; there is also Mother and the smell of her flesh.

Bio/Filmo

Alba Esquinas (Murcia, 1999) grew up in spent her childhood and adolescence in Molina de Segura. At the age of 18 she moved to Madrid to study filmmaking and audiovisual arts at TAI art school. She teamed up with other film students to write and film Canción triste de alubias, a documental about memory and old age that was screened at the Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes Notodofilmfest and won the Fundación Repsol Rompiendo Barreras award. Her debut short as writer and director is Olores, a false documentary that explores the light and dark sides of childhood in postwar Spain.
