El otro día

The director's front door is a portal between the inside of his house and the street outside. Within, the filmmaker's personal life and past, together with his world of objects, imagination and thoughts; without, the city of Santiago de Chile. The stories of the filmmaker's inner sanctum are interrupted whenever someone knocks on the door and, in doing so, steps into the film, creating a universe where private life is woven into the city through a map of red threads.

Ignacio Agüero (Santiago de Chile, 1952) is a director, screenwriter and producer who has appeared in several films by Raúl Ruiz. After studying filmmaking at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, he soon embarked upon a long career directing acclaimed films such as Aquí se construye (1977), Como me da la gana (1985), Cien niños esperando un tren (1988), El diario de Agustín (2008), Como me da la gana II (2016) and Nunca subí el Provincia (2019), among others. He teaches filmmaking at the Universidad de Chile, where he is also a member of the Cero en Conducta collective, which runs film workshops for schoolchildren.
