Synopsis
Living on the edge of the Transbrasiliana Highway in the Brazilian Amazon, Edna is witness to a land in ruins built upon military massacres. Her body, like her mother's, bears the marks of a never-ending war for land. Through her reports and writings, knitting together memories and diary entries, Edna weaves a hybrid narrative that shifts between reality and imagination to create a striking portrait of this tenacious survivor.
Bio/Filmo
Eryk Rocha (Brasilia, 1978) graduated in 2002 from the Escuela de Cine de Los Baños, Cuba, where he directed his first feature, Rocha que voa, which was screened at leading festivals worldwide and marked the start of a career in which he has now notched up over a dozen films. He is the son of acclaimed Brazilian filmmaker Glauber Rocha, who spearheaded the Cinema Novo movement in Brasil and to whom we dedicated a parallel section in 2008. His works include Cinema Novo (2016), which won Best Documentary Award at Cannes.
