Festina lente

Synopsis

When their mother dies, forty-two-year-old Daniel has to take care of his twin brother, Alejandro, who has cerebral palsy. The two brothers haven't been in contact for years. Daniel will have to put his guilt behind him and begin to see Alejandro for what he really is: his brother.

Bio/Filmo

Carlos Villafaina graduated in criminology and then went on to study at ESCAC. In his third year, he wrote and directed Silencio por favor (2017), a short film that deals with his twin brother's functional diversity. The project was nominated for a Gaudí Award for Best Short Film for a Goya Award in 2018, among other national and international awards and selections. His second short film, Gusanos de seda (2018), premiered at SEMINCI, where it won Best Short Film Award, before being screened to great acclaim at over twenty national and international festivals. He is currently working as an assistant director in advertising and fiction. As a director and screenwriter, he heavily involved in the development of Festina lente, his first film, and the documentary NoBody (2021), which deals with contemporary dance through a group of dancers with functional diversity.
Núria Dunjó studied at ESCAC. In 2018, she specialised in screenwriting and wrote three short films as final degree projects: Ama, by Júlia de Paz (MECAL 2019); No me despertéis, by Sara Fantova (Rotterdam 2019); and Te busco en todos, by Celia Giraldo (D'A 2019) . The following year she did an internship in the Analysis and Development Department at Filmax production company. In 2019 she went to study at Columbia University in New York. Ama, by Júlia de Paz, was awarded the Feroz Puerta Oscura Award for Best Film and the Silver Biznaga Award for Best Actress for Tamara Casellas at the 24th Malaga Film Festival. In 2020 she began to develop the short Harta, also by Júlia de Paz, and Festina Lente, Carlos Villafaina’s first film.
