Direct Animation onto 16 mm Film

Adriana Vila Guevara will be joined by her students from the “Filmmaking without a Camera” and “Direct Animation onto 16 mm Film” courses she teaches for the Master’s Degree in Stop-Motion Animation at the BAU to give some theoretical background and practical knowhow for adding and subtracting material to and from 16 mm film. Frame by frame, this meticulous process also offers a fascinating insight into how a 16 mm projector works. The activity will conclude with a screening of the work created—including live, hands-on editing—and comments on the different aspects that went into creating the final piece.

This activity will be taught by filmmaker, anthropologist and teacher Adriana Vila Guevara, who also cofounded Crater-Lab.
