Session 1 Metromuster (60') 15/11 20.30 h

Metromuster - Idrissa

Picking up where they left off last year—when Idrissa was one of the films selected for the project advice sessions at l’Alternativa 2015—the Metromuster team are back to bring us up to speed on how this project is going. On 5 January 2017 it will be five years since Idrissa Diallo died at the Immigrant Detention Centre in Zona Franca; this project aims to drive a large-scale campaign to raise public awareness of his case. They will talk about the strategy behind the project, including their work with social movements, and they will screen previously unseen material filmed in Idrissa Diallo’s home country, Guinea. They will also talk about how they came up with the soundtrack and reveal the latest developments in the case. They will be joined by Guinean artist Nakany Kanté, who has been closely involved with the project.

Session 2 Black Factory Cinema (90') 16/11 19.45 h

Black Factory Cinema is a black box where pictures are created and projects are born. Eager to encourage new generations of directors to get involved in filmmaking, Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami runs workshops where students can make a short film and hone their technique with some expert guidance. This selection of films was made at his latest workshop, in Cuba, in partnership with EICTV Film School.
