Synopsis
A group of working-class teenagers in a northern French town view their approaching baccalauréat exams with a tempered anxiety bordering on indifference. In a series of vignettes, Pialat's fourth film captures the texture and energy of their lives at a time poised between adolescence and adulthood, marked by permanent conflict with parents and teachers, school, (un)employment and the grudging acceptance of their proscribed social roles.
