L'Enfance nue (Naked Childhood)

Maurice Pialat

  • L'Enfance nue (Maurice Pialat)

Synopsis

François Truffaut coproduced Pialat's debut feature film and, recalling Les quatre cents coups, the film is a semiautobiographical story of a young boy lashing out at life and being passed from one foster family to another. Using a fragmented and documentary approach, working with professional and nonprofessional actors, the director makes us experience what is at the core of the foster child's life. “The pathos of L'Enfance nue is all about the zig and the zag of disconnection and thwarted emotions.” —J.P. Gorin
