Betting on shorts

Betting on Shorts: More than a Eurovision of Short Film 2009
SUBJECT: "CONTROL"
Betting on shorts is a themed short-film festival set up in London five years ago which in the last three years has expanded to create a network of 13 European cities, screening a simultaneous programme of animation, music video, video art, fiction, documentary short films. This year's theme is 'Control'.
Have you ever felt like a tightrope walker on your way through life? Do you march boldly onwards or do you enjoy the wobbly moments? There are many forms and measurements of Control: mental, political, physical, social, scientific, strict... or something completely different. You might think of the 'theory of control', risk, controlling stress, domination and skill, borders, observing, mental control, creation, controlling plagues or simply a remote control
Betting on shorts invites our public to bet on the short they think will win.
All bets are placed several days before the screening (on the basis of a synopsis, biography and trailer) at VOID video club, Ferlandina 51, Barcelona (close by the CCCB). In Barcelona, the screening will take place as part of l'Alternativa; the public will be able to vote and will form part of the jury (although they won't be able to bet). Winning bets will have a special prize.
