La vida útil (Federico Veiroj) que recibió una mención especial en la última edición de l’Alternativa se ha estrenado en Inglaterra! Y los críticos opinan…. Sight and Sound, Observer, Little White Lies.

The 2012 Berlinale prizes have been delivered and the international jury awarded the Taviani brothers the Golden Bear for their new film Cesare deve morire (Cesare Must Die), which observes rehearsals in a prison of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, drawing parallels between the play and the world today. In 2008, l’Alternativa dedicated a retrospective to Paolo & Vittorio Taviani. Other prizes include the Silver Bear for best film to Hungarian filmmaker Bence Fliegauf’s Csak a szél (Just The Wind), whose previous feature films have all screened in competition at l’Alternativa, starting in 2003 with his debut Rengeteg (Forest), followed by Dealer in 2004 and in 2007 Tejut (Milky Way), which won the Jury prize at the Festival.

The biggest short film festival in the world, Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival, has just finished,  but we’re still pleased to post that several films screened in competition at the last edition of l’Alternativa were in competition at Clermont Ferrand. In the Labo competiton, the festival’s ‘experimental’ section, both Il capo ( prize winner at l’Alternativa) and Belly were selected, and in the International competition, Wild Life (also a prize winner at l’Alternativa).

Nicolás Pereda es un habitual de l’Alternativa. En 2007 presentamos su debut ¿Donde están sus historias? en las secciones oficiales, y desde entonces la mayoria de sus films han particpado en la competición del festival; Perpetuum mobile y Entrevista con la tierra en 2009 y Verano de Goliat,  que recibió una mención del jurado en 2010. Este mes el Cineteca del Matadero dedica una retrospectiva completa a Pereda, así que si estas por Madrid en febrero, no te lo pierdas!
