Volvemos a presentar una selección de cortometrajes en el marco del festival Signes de Nuit, como parte del proyecto CineTrans. Ficción, documental, animación, experimental… pequeñas joyas seleccionadas en las últimas ediciones de l’Alternativa.

Fueron inviernos de largas tardes en compañía de Nunes… Tardes en los que nos abría las puertas de su romántico rincón de libros compartidos con su antiguo amor. Un rincón que generosamente nos ofreció para conservar los archivos de lo que era nuestro incipiente festival. Tardes de poesía, de política, de lucha, de vino tinto, que a unos jovencitos como nosotros nos llenaban más aún de ímpetu y pasión para tirar adelante lo que ha sido L’Alternativa. …SURFIN’ USA

l’Alternativa are special guests of Kino Evropský dům, the cinema series organised by Fresh Films at the House of European Culture in Prague. The programme includes fiction, animation, film essays and other experiments, previously screened at l’Alternativa. The recently inaugurated Kino Evropský dům brings together European film festivals, and creates a platform for curated programmes of European short film at twice monthly screenings.

A few days ago in Finland…

2 films screened in the short film competition at l’Alternativa 2009 won prizes at the Tampere Film Festival last week. Gudrun Krebitz’s hand drawn I Know You (Germany/Austria) won the Animation award and Philip Widman’s found footage film Destination finale (Germany) the Documentary award. Onnittelut!

English filmmaker John Smith, whose films Worse Case Scenario and selections from the Hotel Diaries series have been screened at l’Alternativa over the last few years is the subject of an exhibition curated by MA students at the Royal College of Art. The show features new video and installation work and rarely seen early films. It will be Smith’s largest UK exhibition to date.

Diletante, presentado en la sección oficial de Documentales de l’Alternativa, ha recibido el premio al Mejor Documental en el 50 Festival de Cine de Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. El film, un íntimo relato cinematográfico que Kris Niklison realizó sobre su madre, Bela Jordán, de 80 años, se estrenará en Argentina durante el 2010.
