Polyphonic bodies

Polyphonic bodies are bodies that resonate, mutate, transform, resist and endure. This year l’Alternativa Hall has taken on this mantle with multiple, sometimes overlapping, ramifications to mine a rich vein of corporeal possibilities.

This space sets out to question systems of cinematic representation and aesthetic norms by seeking out original, complex filmmaking languages that reformulate the universe of the senses.

Polyphonic bodies come in four states:

• sounding bodies, which experiment with what we consider to be be visible, audible or sayable;
• transforming bodies, which set out to explore the surrounding reality armed with expressive identity and, in many cases, a pure drive to survive;
• resisting bodies, which examine the interplay between domination and emancipation and question the categories of action and production,
• and participatory bodies, open to all through calls for entries and other collaborations in accessible formats, where perspectives, sensations and experiences can be shared and exchanged on and off screen.
