Hall Calls for Short Shorts

Online

Personal and/or historical memory

We're opening this year's Hall Calls for Short Shorts!

After last year's successful little number, we're once again inviting you to send us your short short films.

Whereas last year's creative gauntlet was to make a short short film on the weird and wonderful world of art in its widest sense, this year we'd like you to make one on personal and/or historical memory, which should give budding filmmakers enough scope to let their imagination run wild. Remember, short means short: 1 minute max. So that's your summer homework sorted, then.

We'll draw up a shortlist of the top short shorts from all the entries received to screen as part of our virtual Hall, aka our all-singing, all-dancing YouTube channel. Hall fans will then vote for their favourite, and the winner will get two free festival passes. Stay tuned for further mystery prizes . . .

Remember: short shorts must be no more than 1 minute long.

You've got until 15 September 1 October to rummage in your archive.

Best of luck!

Finally, to get your creative juices flowing, here's the opening minute of one of the shorts selected for last year's Official Section, Revision, which would have made a great entry for this year's Hall Calls for Short Shorts (no doubt you'll leave it in the dust . . .):

Information

  • The call for short shorts is now closed
