Synopsis
Los huesos is a fictitious account of the world’s first stop-motion animated film. Dated 1901 and excavated in 2021 as Chile drafts a new constitution, the footage documents a ritual performed by a girl who appears to use human corpses. Emerging in the ritual are Diego Portales and Jaime Guzmán, central figures in the construction of authoritarian and oligarchic Chile.
Bio/Filmo
Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña are a Chilean artistic duo whose works have been selected in some of the most important film festivals and art biennials around the world. Their highly acclaimed first feature, La casa lobo (2018), premiered at the Berlinale and was screened at l'Alternativa, where it won a Special Mention. Their latest short, Los huesos, recently won the Orizzonti Award for Best Short Film at the Venice Film Festival in 2021.
