Alumbramiento

Synopsis

Spain, 1982. As the country struggles to shake off the shackles of fascism, a teenage girl is raped and becomes pregnant. Imprisoned in a detention centre for expecting mothers, she will soon discover that everybody wants to take away from her something she doesn’t have yet: her daughter.

Bio/Filmo

Pau Teixidor studied filmmaking and graduated in 2005 after specialising in documentary. He has helped direct over twenty feature films. His shorts Leyenda (2011) and Cunetas (2017) were nominated for a Gaudí Award and shortlisted for a Goya Award. He took the leap to directing his first feature with Purgatorio (2014); Alumbramiento will be his second.
