IV Acció Curts Symposium by Dones Visuals

Online

ACCIÓCURTS is a guidance, training and pitching programme that gives twelve women the opportunity to present their short film projects and forge ties with industry professionals. The programme forms part of the DONESVISUALS action plan and aims to boost women’s presence and leadership in the audiovisual world.

This year’s edition has been a resounding success, with 102 short film projects submitted to our call for projects. The selection committee—made up of directors Sally Fenaux Barleycorn and Irene Moray and producer Ángeles Hernández—picked the twelve shortlisted projects for #AccióCurts2020. Production companies and anyone else interested in finding out more about these films, will find more details here.

DONESVISUALS organises ACCIÓCURTS in collaboration with l'Alternativa Professionals, which will host this symposium as part of its Cinema Pendent activities for the fourth consecutive year. Additional partners are film lighting company Aluzine and the Women's Cultural Centre La Bonne.

The directors of the twelve shortlisted projects will undergo three training sessions before presenting their projects in public. They will then attend a round of one-to-one interviews with industry professionals. In addition, the shortlisted projects also compete for the Dones Visuals and Aluzine Prizes.

The project mentor for this fourth edition of ACCIÓCURTS will be Mercedes Martínez Abarca, a programmer at the International Film Festival Rotterdam who has been involved with this initiative since 2017. Historian Marta Selva will once again take participants on a tour of Feminist Filmmaking, and Pol Galofre from Col·lectiu Ficcial will ask the directors to talk about what sense of responsibility they attach to their creative work.
