Deborah Stratman Workshop: Sonic Rambling
A 3-hour workshop about the politicised relationship between audio and public space, exploring how sound can disturb, camouflage, animate and construct environments. The workshop will take a look at historic precedents of sonic surveillance, subterfuge and control, followed by a DIY construction session, where we will outfit ourselves with passive amplifiers and set forth on an aural stroll around the neighbourhood.
This workshop will be given by North American filmmaker Deborah Stratman, whose work lies somewhere between documentary and experimental film. Her 36 films to date have been screened at festivals and museums worldwide.
This activity ties in with the Deborah Stratman parallel section.
