Police

Maurice Pialat

  • Police (Maurice Pialat)

Synopsis

Gérard Depardieu won the award for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival for his electrifying performance as a cynical detective in Pialat's unconventional drama. A characteristic Pialat mix of toughness and moral complexity, Police combines a gritty, documentary knowledge of the workings of the Parisian underworld with a dose of psychodrama. This is a film about tension, conflict and hostility—almost all of it between a man and a woman.
