Loulou

Maurice Pialat

  • Loulou (Maurice Pialat)

Synopsis

In Loulou, Isabelle Huppert portrays a young, middle-class accountant who leaves her husband for a rogue and petty thief, played by Gérard Depardieu. Set in Paris in the late 1970s, this is a keenly observed clash of culture and class and a study in erotic revolution, where sex is a force which shatters social patterns and class allegiances. “It's one of the most original French films of the period, and, I think, a great one.” —Dave Kerr, Chicago Reader
