Synopsis

“History is only written about great people; we don’t exist”. Fragmented stories of young Tunisians’ struggle and exile after the fall of Ben Ali. What does it mean to break with one's past, dream of freedom and emancipation, make a film and write a piece of history? A film essay at the crossroads between the energy of a revolution, a departure for Europe, and the violence of a welcome declined.

Bio/Filmo

Nathalie Nambot works in theatre and film, and forms part of L'Abominable, an artist-run film laboratory near Paris. Her films include Ami, entends tu (2010). Maki Berchache (Zarzis) worked in several hotels in Tunisia and arrived in France just after the fall of Ben Ali. He was introduced to cinema at L’Abominable; Brûle la mer is his first film.
