Call for projects - Project advice

There will be individual and group advice sessions with professionals invited to take part in the seminar Coproduction: the key to independent filmmaking to be held after the Q&A session. The projects in question will be selected from those submitted in response to the call for projects.

Aims:

  1. To promote opportunities to produce and distribute emerging filmmaking.
  2. To boost the development of innovative audiovisual projects by encouraging meetings.
  3. Extend the business opportunities for the independent Catalan audiovisual industry in other places worldwide.
  4. Strengthen the role of the l'Alternativa festival as a benchmark international platform for relationships between independent film professionals.

General terms and conditions for taking part:

  1. Have fiscal or personal residence in Catalonia or want to carry out a project in Catalonia.
  2. Present a project with the characteristics set out in the section "Required documentation".
  3. Projects may be presented in Spanish, Catalan or English in the first instance, but each project selected will have to have be expanded in English, which will be the common language of the invited experts.
  4. There are no fees for taking part.
  5. Once the project has been selected, the director and/or producer will need to attend the meeting.
  6. The festival will ask the production companies to include the following sentence in the credits for the finished film: [Title] took part in the L'Alternativa Professionals (IFN) meeting at the Barcelona Independent Film Festival, l'Alternativa.

Assessment criteria:

  1. Projects strongly reflecting artistic risk and uniqueness above and beyond the size of the project budget.
  2. Projects that stand out because of their original subject matter and the way it is covered.
  3. Projects at the preproduction stage.
  4. Projects at the writing stage.
  5. Projects at the postproduction stage.
  6. Possibility of sources of finance.
  7. Director's and/or producer's professional career.
  8. Languages spoken by the director and/or producer.

Required documentation:

  1. Project title.
  2. Director's and/or producer's name and surname.
  3. Synopsis or project description. It should include notes on the project in general (max 10 lines).
  4. Stage the project is at.
  5. Director's and/or producer's CV (max 10 lines).
  6. If pictures can be viewed, send a link or file (max 1 Mb).

  1. 10 July to 1 September 2013
