Both a personal story and a national history of Bulgaria, Tzvetanka tells the story of a Bulgarian woman who survived three political regimes, from monarchy through socialism to democracy. Archive footage and staged scenes with Tzvetanka are interwoven with animated sequences to produce a stream of beautiful, imaginative reflections.

Youlian Tabakov (Sofia, 1975) studied set and costume design at the National Academy of Art in Sofia and fine arts at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He works as a freelance visual artist and set and costume designer. Tzvetanka is his debut feature film.
