L'Alternativa 2012

Official Feature Film Section

The jury for the Official Feature Film Section at the 19th edition of l'Alternativa, Barcelona Independent Film Festival, made up of Jeanne Balibar, Isa Campo and David Epiney, met on 24 November 2012 and agreed unanimously to award the Festival Feature Film Award to the film Nacer. Diario de maternidad by Jorge Caballero (Colombia).

The jury valued the filmmaker's stance and the difficult, fragile distance that lets him reveal extremely intimate moments, the internal conflicts of the women portrayed and the social portrait of workers and patients at a Bogotà maternity ward.

 

Official Short Film Section

The jury for the Official Short Film Section at the 19th edition of l'Alternativa, Barcelona Independent Film Festival, made up of Marla Jacarilla, Jorge Rivero and Gloria Vilches, met on 23 November 2012 and agreed unanimously to award the Festival Short Film Award to the film A Story for the Modlins by Sergio Oksman (Spain), for its intelligent use of found footage to create a fascinating story by audaciously hybridising different genres.

The jury also awarded a special mention to Like Rats Leaving a Sinking Ship by Vika Kirchenbauer (Germany), for its brave, firsthand account of the conflicts between an individual and social norms and the director's original form of expression.

 

Lomography Pantalla Hall Award

The jury for the Lomography - Hall Screen Award at the 19th edition of l'Alternativa, Barcelona Independent Film Festival, made up of Sesi Bergeret, Pere Ginard, Margarita Maguregui, Céline Pimentel and Tess Renaudo, met on 23 November 2012 and agreed unanimously to award the Hall Screen Award to the film The Whale Story by Tess Martin (United States).

 

Audience Award

The audience at the 19th edition of l'Alternativa, Barcelona Independent Film Festival, has awarded a special mention to Oh Willy... by Emma de Swaef and Marc James Roels (Belgium / France / Netherlands).
