L'Alternativa continues to support Spanish filmmakers by screening a selection of shorts and features and inviting the director and/or producer to present their work to the Barcelona public.

This year we have the chance to compare and contrast José Maria de Orbe's Aita and Aita, Letter to My Son. The idea of screening both versions came from the Buenos Aires Festival and has been picked up again at l'Alternativa. We're lucky to have the chance to see something that doesn't happen that often: going back over work, rethinking a finished, screened film, exploring what new effects it might have. José María de Orbe will also speak at the Storytellers roundtable, together with Patricio Guzmán and Paula Ortiz.

For the first time, we've also included a selection of five short films by four young filmmakers – highly personal, subjective, reflective films that make full use of resources to tell their stories.
