Jorge lives with his parents and has worked at a film library for 25 years. He does technical jobs and programming and presents a radio programme on film. With the film library in a critical state, La vida útil shows how Jorge has to change his way of life to adapt to a new world. Perhaps film will help him survive after all.

Federico Veiroj (Montevideo, 1976) is a film programmer who has worked at the Uruguayan and Spanish Film Libraries. Since 1996 he has produced and directed a number of films. His first feature film, Acné (2008), was premiered at the Director’s Fortnight in Cannes.
