L'Alternativa 2010. Barcelona Independent Film Festival

2009 was a busy year for l'Alternativa. The Festival travelled to nine cities with specially curated programmes, opening doors and sharing festival films with a wider audience. We received 1720 films from 79 countries and selected 60 films to compete in the official sections. The result was a stunning panorama of contemporary independent filmmaking that bore witness to a vibrant community off the commercial circuit.

There were also five parallel sections, as well a film-schools section and the Hall Screen, offering festivalgoers the chance to discover little-known work, as well as a seminar on film music, workshops, roundtables and other spaces for debate.

Our call for entries for the next edition of l'Alternativa will begin in April 2010.
