Sinopsis

Children in the Mexican countryside start work at an early age. Los herederos paints a portrait of their lives and daily struggle to survive. Farmers and shepherds, they also walk miles for firewood, weave cloth, make bricks, look after their brothers and sisters, travel with their families to harvest tomatoes, chillies and maize, collect water and sculpt and paint alebrijes, amongst a myriad of other chores. They have inherited tools and techniques from their ancestors, along with their everyday hardship. Generations pass and child workers remain trapped in a cycle of inherited poverty.
