Sinopsis
In 1933 a revolt by peasants in the village of Casas Viejas in the province of Cádiz was brutally put down by law-enforcement officers serving the Republic. El grito del sur: Casas Viejas reconstructs this historic event through contemporary accounts, historical analysis and clips of supposedly ‘recovered' films. While several historians offer data on the massacre and events leading up to it (unemployment, hunger, the need for land reform, frustration at the Republic failing to live up to the hopes it sparked) current-day residents look at old photographs and talk about their ancestors.
