Cristi is a policeman who refuses to arrest a young man who offers hashish to two of his school mates. Christi believes that the law will change, that 'offering' will no longer be an offence and he doesn't want the life of a young man he considers innocent to be a burden on his conscience. This deadpan meditation on authority and moral conscience is also an analysis of bureaucratic procedure and the tyranny of language, as well as seriously redefining the boundaries of the cop movie.
Corneliu Porumboiu (Vaslui, Romania) studied directing at the University of Drama and Film in Bucharest. His feature debut, 12:08 East of Bucharest (2006) won the Caméra d'Or for Best First Feature at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.
