Sinopsis: A reinterpretation of the Book of Revelation. Four Christs come back as the Four Housemen of the Apocalypse to face the imperialist Brahms, who wants to destroy the world with an atomic bomb. A idade da terra was Glauber Rocha's last and most experimental film, made shortly before he died, and puts into practice theories he first dealt with in his short film Di. The completely symbolic film universe takes the director's dearest subjects from a Brazilian setting to a worldwide discourse. The film is designed as an open work (with no opening or closing titles) and the director himself appears within the text. This is a film about how to make films; in Antonioni's words: "a lesson in film".
