Sinopsis:

The Paraná delta. Surrounded by a labyrinth of waterways meandering through a lush wilderness, Álvaro lives a simple, lonely life harvesting reeds and fishing. In this remote area of Argentina lost
in time, Álvaro's homosexuality and his love for books deepen his sense of isolation.

"I shot in black and white to get a freer portrayal of reality and move away from a documentary style. The Paraná delta appears as an out-of-time land, separate from any geographical system of reference. The story reaches a level that subtly explores subjects such as the fear of others, discrimination, power and frustration. The delta is shown as a territory to be taken, a country to be built" -Santiago Otheguy.

Bio: Santiago Otheguy (Buenos Aires, 1973) graduated in history of art and film at the Sorbonne, and also took orchestration classes. He started a promising career as a musician, but a conference held by Eric Rohmer spurred him to become a film director. He has directed numerous short films and TV commercials, and during the last few years, he has worked with several theatre directors. La León is his first feature film.
