L'Alternativa has achieved a long-held ambition: to set up an initiative related not only to screening, but also to creation and production. L'Alternativa has been organising different workshops and masterclasses for a number of years now - on Screenwriting, Directing Actors and Soundtracks, amongst others - but this is the first time we've organised a competition workshop. This is a joint initiative with Avid.
Six projects were selected from those received from all over Spain (three Catalan projects and three from the rest of Spain). All of them will take part in the following activities:
Editing Seminar. Held on the first weekend and given by Pablo Blanco, professional film and documentary editor, winner of a Goya for Best Editing for Airbag (1997) and editor of the documentary Extranjeros de sí mismos (2000).
Demonstration Workshop. Open for the following four days, Monday to Thursday, and supervised by an Avid specialist. Participants will have to prepare a short documentary no more than five minutes long (including credits) to demonstrate their project..
Xpress Yourself Competition. At the end of the workshop, the six documentaries will be screened during the festival itself on Friday 17 November (20hs. Hall Screen). The public will vote for the winner.
After the Festival, Avid will decide which projects will remain within the Avidhoc initiative; their creators will be able to finish their work to the highest technical standard under Avid's supervision.
